Ecologically Responsible
Bioaction design and supply a range of packaged systems to suit the stormwater hydrology, geographical location and water reuse requirement. The systems are designed for easy and consistent application and avoid the problems of sourcing specific filter substrates. Water retention tanks can be engineered into the same construction for potential harvesting and reuse. The company can arrange installation of biofiltration systems in conjunction with our national affiliate network.

KEY DESIGN ELEMENTS
Maintaining adequate infiltration capacity is crucial in ensuring the long-term treatment efficiency of the system. The ability of a bioretention system to detain and infiltrate incoming stormwater is a function of the filter surface area, extended detention (ponding) depth, and the hydraulic conductivity of the filter media. The Bioaction designed bioretention system optimises the combination of these three key design elements.
BIOENGINEERED DESIGN
Bioaction SBS was designed for consistent and efficient construction
of bioretention swales. It includes an engineered overflow pit to meet the FAWB Stormwater Biofiltration System Adoption Guidelines monash.edu.au/fawb/publications/index.html. It is designed and constructed with predetermined overflow points to control anoxic zone in the filtration media and allow unrestricted overflow in a storm event.
The system can be adapted to allow stormwater detention for harvesting in the same pit construction.
ADVANCED FILTRATION MEDIA
FiltaMedia is a specially formulated organic filtration media designed to meet the standards of a bioretention systems. Unlike sand/gravel filter media, FiltaMedia provides a high level of buffering to plants (nutrient exchange and water availability). It is consistent homgenous media mix that significantly reduces the cost of, sourcing mineral filter media and the costs of installing different media substrates.
FiltaMedia is a highly robust media with high hydraulic conductivity, large surface area and up 70% water-holding capacity. It resistsbiological degradation and provides enhanced nutrient removal - physical & biological. FiltaMedia comes in compressed 25kg bales which can be easily handled during installation.
