The practice of sweeping kerbside gutters and cleaning Gross Pollutant Traps (GPT) in urban development reduces the amount of waste washed into waterways. While this is a sound environmental practice it requires regular maintenance and generates wet waste, which has to be dewatered prior to going to landfill.
Bioaction have developed two applications to assist in wet waste management:
1. Filtration system to remove contaminates and hydrocarbons from the wastewater.
2. Dewatering system including the primary filter screen, silt trap and filter.
These designs reduce both the financial cost or removing and disposing contaminated wastewater and the environmental cost of leachate contamination.Treated wastewater can be reused for dust control and subsurface irrigation.
